Blog #2.9 Meet Zaina Bizriguene

Bio: Zaina Bizriguene is an English major student at the faculty of languages, art and human sciences, at Ibn Zuhr University. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is currently undergoing rigorous training as part of the Community Engagement and Leadership Program at the Ahel Foundation in Jordan. This program equips her with valuable skills and knowledge to become an effective leader and change-maker within her community.  

As a program assistant intern at the Dar Si Hmad Foundation, she actively contributes to the organization's mission of promoting sustainable development and empowering local communities. Her dedication to this role demonstrates her ability to work collaboratively and take on responsibilities in a professional setting.

Zaina is a dynamic and passionate young civil society activist, and deeply rooted in her Amazigh heritage, her roots serve as a constant source of inspiration, propelling her to engage in the field of social sciences and cultural studies with a strong desire to promote understanding, appreciation, and preservation of the Amazigh identity. Driven by curiosity to explore and question various aspects of her heritage, Zaina has embarked on a journey of self-discovery and intellectual growth. This profound understanding has motivated her to share her passion with others, aiming to create awareness and foster cultural understanding.

Pre-program reflections: I am delighted to be among the team as a speaking partner of the 2023 Ethnographic Field School. This position offers a remarkable chance to cultivate cultural exchange and facilitate international expertise with local knowledge, encompassing areas such as history,  Amazigh heritage, and Argan production. The core ethos of this role revolves around the principles of fostering understanding, sharing valuable insights, promoting cultural awareness, and facilitating a rich environment of learning.
