Isabelle Haddad, GIS Team Lead for 2024

Bio: Isabelle is finishing up her second year in her PhD program in Environmental Systems at the University of California, Merced. She holds her Bachelor’s in Environmental Science from SUNY ESF in upstate NY. Afterward, she worked at her local county for a year and assisted in sustainability efforts and formulating the county’s first climate action plan. Her current research at UCM focuses on equity considerations in climate action planning and equitable electric vehicle transition. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, playing pickleball, and hanging at the beach.

Research team in 2024: GIS lead and consultant with the Social-Life Cycle Assessment team.

Pre-departure thoughts: I’m very excited to experience Morocco’s culture and traditions. I’m curious to see how my Arabic and experiences in Lebanon measure up. I’m hoping to expand my Arabic language breadth by conversing with locals and making friends. I’m also looking forward to the immense learning experience with Dar si Hamad and our research areas, honing my skills in GIS, and growing as an interviewer to apply to S-LCA. I can’t wait to explore Morocco’s beaches, markets, and people, and bond with our research group!
