Pre-departure thoughts: As I prepare for my upcoming research trip to Morocco, I find myself filled with both excitement and a sense of profound responsibility. This journey represents a significant milestone in my academic career, allowing me to delve into the intricate world of argan oil production, a subject that beautifully intertwines environmental science, sustainable development, and cultural heritage. I am particularly eager to engage with local artisans and cooperatives, whose knowledge and experience are invaluable. By learning directly from those who live and work in the argan-producing regions, I hope to gain insights that cannot be found in textbooks or academic papers. This on-the-ground perspective will be crucial in developing practical recommendations for sustainable practices.
